Application for Citizenship
Eligibility criteria to become a Canadian citizen:
Permanent Resident of Canada
You must be a permanent resident of Canada and should not come under any examination for any fraud. The applicant should meet all the conditions for a PR.
Time
Just before signing the application for citizenship, applicants (minors and adults) must have been living in Canada for at least 3 years from 5 years of time.
Income tax filing
If required under the Income Tax Act, the applicant should have a good record of personal income tax filing in three tax years that are fully or partially within the five years just before the date of application.
Language skills
You should be proficient in one of the official languages of Canada before the date of signing the application if you are above 18 years. English and French are the two official languages of Canada. The Canadian Language Benchmark (CBL) is at least level 4 and applicant has to meet this level. But if you are looking for a secondary or post-secondary program in English or French, then you are exempted from this requirement.
