    Everyone has a dream to work and live in Canada. If you are not a permanent citizen of Canada, then to work as a temporary foreign worker you must get a work permit from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada or a Canadian Visa Office. And this request should be sent before going to Canada

    The applicants should be aware of the following important information to work in Canada as a Temporary worker:

    • The employer who is hiring you should be required to obtain a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) from Employment and Social Development Canada/ Service Canada permits employer to hire a foreign worker.
    • The employer has to pay a recruiter compliance fee and submit an Offer of Employment form to the Citizenship and Immigration Canada if you are exempted from the LMIA process.
    • If you are exempted from the LMIA process but received approval for an open work permit visa, you can work anywhere in Canada and your employer does not need to submit any document.
    • For a permanent stay in Canada, you need to prove your qualifications under the immigration category as a permanent resident.

    The basic eligibility criteria for applying a temporary work visa for Canada:

    • First of all, you should obey all the laws of Canada and give relevant proofs that your financial condition is fine and you are able to survive in Canada and capable of bearing your own expenses from return journey to your country.
    • You should provide a police clearance certificate that you don’t have any criminal records.
    • You should provide a proof that you do not have any plan to serve and employer who is in list of ineligible employers, employers who provide striptease, escort services, erotic dance or massage.
    • Your medical reports to prove that you are in a healthy condition.

  • Postgraduate Work Permit

    The Post-graduation Work Permit gives the opportunity to students who have graduated from a ‘Canadian post-secondary institution’ for getting good work experience. After graduation from ‘Canadian post-secondary institution’, students can apply for a Post-graduation Work Permit which allows them to work in Canada by giving an open work permit for up to three years without having a Canadian job offer at the time of submitting the application. International students can receive only one Post-graduation Work Permit from Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).

    The basic eligibility criteria for getting a Postgraduate Work Permit

    • Applicant should have a diploma or certificate in an academic, vocational or professional training program in Canada and it should be of at least eight months from the institution included in Designated Learning Institution (DLI) list.
    • You should have a transcript and an official letter from eligible DLI for confirmation that you have met all the requirements to complete their program of study.
    • You should be graduated from one of these institutions/universities:
      • A public post-secondary institution, such as a college or a trade or technical school,
      • A private post-secondary school (in Quebec) which operates under the same rules as public schools in Quebec,
      • A private secondary or post-secondary school (in Quebec) that offers qualifying programs of 900 hours or longer
      • Canadian private school that provides Associate, Bachelor’s, Master’s or Doctorate degrees under provincial law but only if the student was enrolled in a study program that leads to a degree as authorized by the province.

  • Spousal Work Permit

    Spousal Work Permit is an open work permit that allows your spouse or common-law partner to work on or off campus full-time while you are studying in Canada. This open work permit is not job specific in fact it allows your spouse or common-law partner to accept any job with any employer. And this open work permit is normally valid for the same period as long as you are studying in Canada. Your spouse or common-law partner can apply before or after their arrival in Canada. Although, sometimes you have to apply for spouse work permit at the same time of your study permit application as per the policy of Canadian Visa Offices. Moreover, you have to include the additional fee for the work permit of your spouse or common-law partner.

    Eligibility criteria for applying a Spousal Work Permit:

    If you are an international student studying full-time and have a valid study permit, then your spouse or common-law partner can easily apply for open work permit without having any job offer by a Canadian employer in advance.

    How to apply

    There are two simple ways to apply for a spouse or common-law partner work permit:

    For online application, you must have-

    • A valid credit card to pay fee
    • A good quality scanner or digital camera to make electronic copies that you supposed to upload while filling the form.

    For offline application, you must have-

    • An application package which includes application guide to fill the form. You need to read the guide carefully before filling and submitting the form.
    • After filling all the details attached the mentioned documents you must answer all the questions carefully, as the incomplete applications are not considered by the authority and will be returned to you.
    • Finally, submit your application at the email address given in the application package.

  • Extention of Work Permit

    If you want to extend your Canadian temporary work permits, you should know about these factors:

    • You have to apply just before the expiration of current work permit if you want to stay for a longer period of time in Canada. In case, you do not immediately apply to extend the condition of current work permit, then it will be problematic to stay there.
    • If you get a new job before relieving from a previous job, you need a new work permit for the continuation of living in Canada. Without a new work permit, you are not allowed to start a new job in Canada.
    • If you love to stay and work in Canada as a permanent resident, you can simply apply for a permanent residence under Canada’s permanent residence categories.
    • When you want to leave Canada, then also you are allowed to extend your work permit. There are some conditions in which you should apply for the same-
      • You are allowed to enter Canada as a visitor if your work permit extension is in progress. But you are not allowed to get a job anywhere till the time your work permit extension procedure gets done. In fact, for the extension process, you must prove that you have enough amount to survive until you get the job.
      • If you do not come to Canada before getting an extension of work permit, you can wait in your country. And once the procedure is done you can re-enter and work in Canada immediately.
      • In case, an extension of work permit is rejected, you need to apply for a new work permit to work in Canada again.
